You should keep a sanitizer (Bromine or Chlorine) in your spa at all times to kill any bacteria. In addition, you should “shock” treat the spa at least once a week (more often after periods of heavy usage).

It’s important to test the ph and Alkalinity on a regular basis (three times a week), and adjust with a product such as “Spa up” or “Spa down”.

Aside from the chemical solutions, there are a couple of organic and natural alternatives such as “ozonators” which are successfully used for different water purification uses.
