Question by Kathleen B: Baking soda in hot tub created grit stuck to fiberglass. How can I get rid of it?
I added 3 lbs of baking soda to my hot tub to modify the chemical troubles. I added too significantly and it stuck to the fiberglass as a challenging grit, like sandpaper. I tried a scrape it with a plastic scraper. Then I drained the hot tub and now need to have to get the grit off. How?

if the soda crystals are still on the surface of the plastic (not embedded into it fully) you can attempt dissolving them with hot water and that plastic scraper – or even a steam cleaner, but take care if the tub is created of plastic (and not actually f/glass), you could just melt oneself into even far more trouble!
If the “grit” is encapsulated now, then your only alternative (apart from a new tub) is to use a sander to get back to a smooth surface, and then apply a suitable layer of fibreglass paint (I utilised Perfection 709 on a glass boat hull – fantastic stuff)
